For most of us, a new year brings that universal feeling of wanting to take stock and carve out some time to take better care of ourselves. Often this means hitting the gym a few times a week, getting back on the mountain bike or lacing up your running shoes nice and early, when the rest of the world is still sleeping.
At Katavi, we’re all about reinvention and adopting an active, heart-healthy routine. However, when you’re out there pounding the pavement or hitting the weights, your skin could do with a little extra pampering. Here are our top tips for blokes to take care of their skin after intense workouts (ladies, you can listen up too, just skip over the bits referencing facial hair):
Wash that money-maker
Your kisser need some TLC after a workout to prevent clogged pores due to the build-up of dead skin cells. We recommend using a natural facewash to remove any residual oil and sweat immediately after your workout to open those pores and give your skin a fresh and vibrant look.
Scrub it up real good
If you exercise within 24 hours after a shave, or you’re prone to ingrown hairs to begin with, you’re going to have your face a good scrub after your workout. Oil and bacteria can creep up on you after a sweat session, so it’s best to get rid of it ASAP. Best of all – the only thing you’ll need is a nice, rough flannel facecloth.
Katavi Nyasha Body Serum makes an excellent Anti-Aging After Shave Balm. Hydrating and soothing, it’s recommended for all skin types – even delicate skin. This non-greasy, rapidly absorbed serum is ideal after shaving, leaving your skin feeling nourished and refreshed. Natural ingredients help to soothe redness and itching, your face feels smoother, softer and revitalized. Good thing we’re running a Valentine’s Promo on this awesome product – Body Serum + FREE Natural Shaving Gel? Bliss!
TOP TIP: If you exercise outdoors in our harsh South African climate, you should always wear sunscreen with an SPF 15 or higher, even if you exercise early in the morning or late at night. If you have sensitive skin, it might be worth your while to invest in a hydration oil or booster serum to plump up those cells after exposure to the elements.
